The Imaginarium of DVO with Manuel: Tips from a Professional Voice Over Talent

The Imaginarium of DVO, a place for wonder and knowledge, welcomes our Spanish voice over artist Manuel, who is giving us some tips on how to become a voice-over talent.

He emphasizes on the importance of education and training. Interpretation and communication are a must in this industry, he says, and the best way to master it is studying, either in acting schools, dubbing courses, or theater classes.

Being able to communicate in English is essential. English is the language for global business. International sectors use English, and if you are not able to have a conversation during a live session recording with your client, or just the skills to answer an email then you are out.

You need a good home studio but if you are a beginner and don’t have that possibility yet, just soundproof a room for your voiceover recordings. It will make your room quieter, by blocking-out external noise and absorbing the echo.

Promote your voice. You need to be found, so create your own personal website, build your profile across the main social media sites and share your demo on voiceover company sites.

And most important, don’t give up. This profession is a marathon, not a sprint. Work hard and it will pay off.

Follow these recommendations and you’ll be one step closer to your final goal, being a professional vo talent:
